Basic Overview
Artificial Lifeforms come in one of two flavors: fully Cybernetic or partially Organic. A player that wishes to make an Artifical Lifeform (AL) character must choose one or the other, which also determines what several of the character's species bonuses are.
A fully Cybernetic AL (CAL) is a character that was build from the ground up with synthetic parts, essentially an android or robot. No part of the character is living in any real sense of the word; they are entirely mechanical. As a result, damage the character sustains does not automatically heal as with other Species. Instead, a CAL must either repair damage with tools or by absorbing energy from other sources and using that energy to repair itself. A character of this type begins play with Computer Mastery.
A partially Organic AL (OAL) is a character that was once another Species, but has been altered with synthetics to such an extent that they can no longer be considered a member of that Species; basically cyborgs. An OAL heals damage sustained to their organic body parts as any other member of their original Species, but must repair damage to their synthetic parts with tools; an OAL does not have the ability to absorb energy from other sources to repair themselves. A character of this type begins play with Scan Immunity.
Level-Up Bonuses
Computer Mastery: A Cybernetic AL begins play with mastery of computers. The character may interface with a computer system manufactured by any Species without an input device (keyboard, mouse, etc.). Additionally, while traveling through Space, the travel time is halved.
Scan Immunity: An Organic AL begins play immune to scans, including power level scans (both from Ki Sense and Scouters) and location triangulation. Scan Immunity subtracts 1 from all enemy Perception scores when the character makes a sneak attack. This ability is always active and cannot be suppressed.
Energy Absorption: At level 4, a Cybernetic AL gains the ability to convert 1/2 of any BLOCKED energy/magic attack's damage into Health, or 1 Power Point. Converted damage cannot raise the character's Health above their normal maximum value.
Innate Flight: At level 4, an Organic AL gains Ki Flight for free. Unlike the normal ability, Innate Flight does not require the expenditure of 1 Point Point each day. This ability is activated at will and cannot be suppressed.
Imperfect Form: At level 7, an AL (both Cybernetics and Organics) gains access to a temporary power-up that raises his or her Strength and Ki Control by 1. The character must absorb or combine with an object of some sort, sometimes another AL altogether. The integrated object is eventually ejected, either by sustaining a high damage attack or after an undefined period of time.
Perfect Form: At level 11, an AL gains access to a temporary power-up that raises his or her Strength and Ki Control by 2 and Endurance and Perception by 1. This power-up can only be attained while the character is in his or her Imperfect Form, and these bonuses override bonuses from that Form. As with the Imperfect power-up, the character must absorb or combine with an object of some sort, sometimes another AL altogether. The integrated object is eventually ejected, either by sustaining a high damage attack or after an undefined period of time (though shorter than Imperfect Form). A character falling out of Perfect Form may still maintain Imperfect Form.
Super Perfect Form: At level 15, an AL gains access to a temporary power-up that raises his or her Strength and Ki Control by 3, Endurance by 2, and Perception by 1. This power-up can only be attained while the character is in his or her Perfect Form, and these bonuses override bonuses from that Form. As with the other Forms, the character must absorb or combine with an object of some sort, sometimes another AL altogether. The integrated object is eventually ejected, either by sustaining a high damage attack or after an undefined period of time (though shorter than Perfect Form). A character falling out of Super Perfect Form may still maintain Perfect Form.
