The Earth of the Dragon Ball universe is similar to our Earth, but the entire land mass is basically the Eurasian continent plus Japan. Earth is the planet that Goku and his friends lived on and was the center stage for a large portion of the Dragon Ball story. Due to the presence of the Earth's Special Forces (ESF), the Earth has never been conquered. The ESF has defended the Earth through countless attacks, such as the Tree of Might fiasco, the arrival of the Saiyans, and the Cell incident. Kami, Earth's de facto ruler, has kept a good watch on Earth.

Vegeta is a planet completely dominated by the Saiyans. But it was not always like this... A long time ago the planet was divided into 2 main races, the Saiyans, and the Tuffles. The Tuffles were highly advanced creatures; their technology was great, much like the Humans of today. But then the Saiyans attacked. Because of the Tuffles technology, they stood a chance. The war was about equal until a full moon rose. The Saiyans transformed and destroyed the Tuffles, and then stole their technology. The Saiyans now are sent all over the universe to conquer planets and sell them to the highest bidder. But this time they do it for themselves, not Freeza.

Planet Namek a very nice planet with trees that look like cotton candy and the air is always fresh. One of the planet's two suns is always up and the weather is almost always calm and clear, making New Namek feel almost like paradise. The main species on Namek are the Nameks, bi-pedal slug-like humanoids that spend most of their time tending to the local fauna. New Namek was created following Freeza's destruction of the original Planet Namek during his fight with Goku.

Planet Drackonis was once the most powerful technological planet in the galaxy, but due to centuries of civil war it has devolved into something akin to the Warring States period of Chinese history. While the super-wealthy still possess impressive technology, the vast majority of the population lives in poverty with almost no technology at their disposal.

Freeza 42 is one of the many, many planets that Freeza conquered, but never annexed. Considered by many to be his main base of power, Freeza 42 possesses advanced technology, but has a relatively low native population. After the collapse of the Planet Trade Organization (ie, after Freeza and Koola were defeated), Freeza 42 fell into relative obscurity. About the only thing that is commonly known is that Dr. Gero established his main lab on this world, where he still tinkers away.

The Next Dimension is the combination of the ideas of Heaven and Hell. Pure spirits remain in Heaven doing as they please until they choose to be resurrected, while impure spirits are sent to Hell to be purified. Relatively powerful spirits, such as the Z-Warriors, Freeza, or Cell, may retain their corporal bodies and seek out training with the Kais or reaffirm their strength by defeating other beings.
