Basic Overview
Nameks are humanoids with slug-like characteristics, including green skin and antennae, that are fully grown at the age of eight. They are among the most important races in the series, as they are the creators and maintainers of the Dragon Balls. Nameks are asexual beings with physiques similar to human males who have very long lifespans. They survive on water alone, have red or purple blood, and extremely good hearing (whistling paralyzes them).
A Namek comes in one of two flavors: a Guardian or a Shaman. A player that wishes to make a Namek character must choose one or the other, which also determines what several of the character's species bonuses are.
A Guardian Namek is a fighter-type combat class. These are Nameks who are proficient in combat, and their typical power levels in the series are around the 3,000 range. Guardian Nameks are unable to use some of the magician-like abilities of the Shaman. This type of Namek is very rare, only around 10% of the total Nameks are Guardians. Piccolo and Nail are the two most famous of this type. A Guardian begins play with access to the Mystic Attack.
A Shaman Namek belongs to the so-called "Dragon Clan" of Nameks. They generally fulfill the role of a support-type character. These Nameks have abilities that pertain to magic and are experts in creating and manipulating Dragon Balls. Members of this type make up the vast majority of Nameks. Prominent examples of this class include Guru, Kami, and Dende. A Shaman begins play with the Dragon Sense ability.
Level-Up Bonuses
Mystic Attack: A Guardian begins play able to use the Mystic Attack, which allows them to make a "ranged melee" attack by extended their arms or legs a great distance. Using this ability, the Guardian can spend up to 4 Power Points to make a physical attack from range, adding an amount of damage to that attack equal to the number of Power Points spent.
Dragon Sense: A Shaman begins play with the Dragon Sense ability, which allows them to detect the location of Dragon Balls, as well as read others' Power Levels similar to the Ki Sense ability. By spending 1 Power Point, they can know the general location of all 7 Dragon Balls on a planet, or scan a target's Power Level and instinctively determine the alignment of their heart (good or evil).
Enlarge: At level 4, a Guardian may unlock a temporary power-up that increases his Strength and Endurance by 1. Enlarge increases the Namek's physical size by several dozen times, similar to a Saiyan's Oozaru Form. Expanding his form in this way leaves the Namek drained of stamina for some time after returning to normal size and thus is best used as a trump card.
The Healing Touch: At level 4, a Shaman gains access to the Healing Touch. By spending 1 Power Point, he can place his hands on another person and restore an amount of Health equal to the bonus damage the Namek's attacks normal receive from his Ki Control score (see the Combat & Damage rules).
Enhanced Regeneration: At level 7, a Namek (both Guardians and Shamans) gains an enhanced form of cellular regeneration. Instead of the normal Health regeneration rate of Endurance per day, a Namek regenerates Health at a rate of Endurance per hour. Additionally, a Namek may regrow any lost body part other than his head. Doing so requires a large amount of concentration, so is best done after battle or during a respite.
Super Namek: At level 11, a Namek may unlock a temporary power-up that increases his Strength and Endurance by 2 and his Endurance and Perception by 1. In order to access the Super Namek state, the Namek must permanently fuse with another Namek of the opposite type; for example, a Guardian must fuse with a Shaman. Once the fusion has taken place, the resulting Namek may access this power-up at will, but it only lasts for a short period of time each activation.
Dragon Ball Creation: At level 15, a Namek gains the ability to create a set of 7 Dragon Balls on any planet that does not already have them. The Namek decides all aspects of the wish restrictions and upon creation, those rules cannot be changed. The Dragon Balls will remain on that world for as long as the Namek is alive, but the Namek can choose to depower them in order to prevent their use; Dragon Balls that have been rendered inert by the Namek can be restored whenever the Namek sees fit. The Namek instinctively knows the location of his creations at all times, as well as what wishes have been granted and to whom they were granted to, but the Namek cannot use his own Dragon Balls for wishes. This ability can only be used once.
