Dragons

Basic Overview

The Dragons of Planet Drackonis are the only non-canon species in Dragon Ball Legacy Redux and have undergone quite a bit of change since their creation in DBZ RPG, More Fun Than Beating On Your Siblings. Of all the known species in the galaxy, the Dragons are by far the oldest and possibly the most powerful. A species of psudo-half-dragons, a typical Dragon lives out his life in his Breed form, a Human-like visage that appears nothing like what the species name would suggest. In fact, a visitor to Drackonis would find the planet very similar to Earth, with a few key differences.

Politically, Drackonis appears very similar to the Warring States Period of Chinese history. The planet is broken up into many feudal territories (called Kingdoms) where the poor are forced into armies to fight each other in order to advance the ruling family's power. Each Kingdom is ruled by one family line and usually has several high-ranking generals with many years of combat experience. The largest of these Kingdoms was once ruled by the Drackonis family, but the final heir to the throne fled the planet many years ago and the Kingdom is now under the control of the Prime Minster. Due to many generations of civil war, the Dragons have become something of an isolationist people; very few Dragons ever leave Drackonis, either due to a lack of financial independence or because they are simply not allowed to.

It is known, however, that the Dragons weren't always so isolated. At some point in their ancient history, the Dragons began exploring the universe and eventually mating with other species they encountered. Over time, their hybrid offspring began to outnumber the pure Dragons and as a result, every Dragon possess two forms: their Breed form and their Dragon form. The overwhelmingly vast majority (>99%) of the Dragon people live out their lives only ever knowing their Breed form, the non-Dragon form they were born into. Generally speaking, a Dragon's Breed form is Human or near-human in appearance, though it could be any species that doesn't reproduce through a mitosis-like affect. Regardless of their Breed form, a Dragon will always posses the traits of the Dragon species, never those of the Breed species.

A Dragon comes in one of two flavors: a Soldier or a Mystic. A player that wishes to make a Dragon character must choose one or the other, which also determines what several of the character's species bonuses are.

A Soldier Dragon is a master of melee combat, able to survive battle with even the toughest of foes. They generally use energy or magic attacks far less often than other people, preferring the more "honorable" route of armed combat, be it with a spear, sword, war fan, staff, or other weapon. A majority of Dragons are born into the Soldier caste, including the great generals of the Kingdoms. This type of Dragon begins play with Weapon Mastery.

A Dragon born as a Mystic is able to perform feats that awe their brethren and will one day become a master of Ki manipulation. The Mystic is a rare treasure for the Dragons and are generally treated as Holy in Kingdoms where they are found. A Mystic begins play able to summon forth the legendary power of their ancestors, a breath weapon of one type of energy (fire, cold, lighting, etc.).

Level-Up Bonuses

Weapon Mastery: A Soldier begins play with Weapon Mastery. Just like with a Human Earthling, this ability adds 1 damage to any one weapon type chosen at character creation.

Breath Weapon: A Mystic begins play with access to the legendary Breath Weapon of their ancestors. This ability allows the Dragon to spend up to 4 Power Points to generate a ranged energy-based attack of one type of damage (fire, cold, lightning, etc.) chosen at creation, which deals damage like any other energy attack plus an amount of damage equal to the number of Power Points spent.

Regeneration: At level 4, a Soldier gains an enhanced form of cellular regeneration. Instead of the normal Health regeneration rate of Endurance per day, a Dragon regenerates Health at a rate of Endurance per hour. This ability does not allow the Dragon to regrow lost limbs.

Power Point Bonus: At level 4, a Mystic gains a permanent boost to his maximum Power Point total equal to his Ki Control score. Should the character's Ki Control score rise at a later date, the character's Power Point total rises by an equal amount.

Major Health Boost: At level 7, a Soldier gains a major boost to their Health. Instead of the normal END x2 boost to Health, the Dragon uses END x4. This boost is always in effect and can never be canceled.

One With the Universe: At level 7, a Mystic gains several permanent attributes. First, he gains the ability to sense the location of any Dragon Balls on whatever world he is currently on. Second, while in Space, the character no longer requires food, water, or oxygen; his body simply absorbs ambient energy from the background radiation and converts it as necessary. Finally, the character gains the ability to use Space Flight, which is exactly like Ki Flight only at factors of light speed instead of mach and can only be used in Space.

Dragon Form: At level 11, a Dragon (both Soldiers and Mystics) can access to a temporary power-up that raises his Strength and Endurance by 3 and his Ki Control by 2. This Form transforms the user into a half-dragon humanoid similar to the Shadow Dragons in the final arc of Dragon Ball GT. The Dragon's body grows up to nearly twice its normal size and becomes covered with scales, his bones become hard as iron, and his blood vessels enlarge, allowing Ki to flow faster. He may develop other traits associated with dragons from Earth legend as well, such as wings, claws, sharp fangs, spines, or neck frills. Every Dragon Form is different and very few Dragons ever unlock it. This Form can be accessed at will, but leaves the Dragon exhausted and rather, well, exposed after returning to his normal form.

+1 Vital Statistic: At level 15, a Dragon gains a permanent +1 bonus to one Vital Statistic. This bonus cannot raise a stat over 7.
