Basic Overview
Earthlings come in one of two flavors: a Human or an anthropomorphic animal. A player that wishes to make an Earthling character must choose one or the other, which also determines what the character's starting species bonus is.
A Human in the Dragon Ball universe is basically the same as a Human in our reality, though a vast, VAST majority of the Human species has no control over their Ki. In fact, the number of Humans between all 3 series that can do so can be counted on two hands. The vast majority of Humanity is also Caucasian, oddly enough. A newly created Human Earthling begins play with a Mastery, either in a specific weapon or in science.
An anthropomorphic animal (Anthro) is an animal with Human features, not a Human with animal features. For instance, a cat or pig that walks on two legs, has opposable thumbs, and can speak is an anthropomorphic Earthling, while a Human female with cat ears and a tail is not. In most circles, this subdivision of Earthling is called a "Furry". A newly created anthropomorphic Earthling begins play with Heightened Senses.
Level-Up Bonuses
Mastery: A Human begins play with Mastery of a single weapon type or science. A Human with Weapon Mastery adds 1 damage to all attacks made with a weapon of that type. A Human with Science Mastery adds 1 to the rank of any armor currently equipped, which increases the Damage Resistance of that armor.
Heightened Senses: An Anthro begins play with Heightened Senses, which adds 1 to the character's Perception score versus a sneak attack. This allows the character to dodge surprise attacks easier than a character of another Species.
Minor Health Boost: At level 4, an Earthling (both Humans and Anthros) gains a minor boost to their Health. Instead of the normal END x2 boost to Health, an Earthling uses END x3. This boost is always in effect and can never be canceled.
Extra Free Creation: At level 7, an Earthling gains a second Free Creation. See the Quests page for rules regarding the Free Creation.
Emotional Explosion: At level 11, an Earthling may unlock a temporary power up that increases his Endurance by 2 and his Strength, Perception, and Ki Control by 1. The first time the character uses this ability must be in a story situation, requiring an overwhelming emotional moment usually involving anger. Once "unlocked", the character can return to the memory of this event and access the power-up in future situations. While using this ability, the character experiences no physical changes (other than possibly an expression of rage, anger, or sadness on his or her face).
+1 Vital Statistic: At level 15, an Earthling gains a permanent +1 bonus to one Vital Statistic. This bonus cannot raise a stat over 7.
